Hike along breathtaking trails

Hikers are very welcome

Dear hiking friend

Here, in the beautiful volcanic eastern Eifel region, you will find an offer that is tailored to the needs of hikers and nature lovers. Enjoy an extensive and well signposted network of premium hiking trails nearby. Here are some examples within a 10 km radius. For detailed information please click on the underlined links. During your stay, we will be pleased to advise you personally in your planning with interesting tips and current information.

  • You can start right from our front door for example towards the Lake Laacher See, where you will reach the Traumpfad "Pellenzer Seepfad".
Chateau Buerresheim at Traumpfad Foerstersteig / Mayen
  • At the nearby Erlenbrunnen in upper Mendig, you will start into the "Vier Berge Tour" (length 12,9 km). A real highlight is the former radio tower Gaensehals close to the village Bell. Enjoy at 24 m the panorama view over the Eastern Eifel. Originally, this tower is a part of the neighbour trail "Waldseepfad Rieden" (14,2 km) but it is also very close to Vier Berge Tour.

  • Hike through canyons and caves of trass (a volcanic eruptive rock), uphill to the caldera of Lake Laacher See and back towards the Rhine valley and starting point of the "Höhlen- und Schluchtensteig" (12,1 km).
Aufsteig zum Bellerberg - Vulkanpfad
  • This more or less "short" Traumpfad "Vulkanpfad" (6,6 km) convinces with an lovely overview from Bellerberg and a look inside towards a lava quarry face and small caves (seven snuggery "Sieben Stuben"). A small excursion to the impressive basalt steep faces at Ettringer Lay is also recommendable.

  • Embedded in the romantic river valley of the Nette the path "Nette Schieferpfad" (length 9,2 km), leads along the old slate pits near Mayen and Polch, which were once decisive for the economic productivity of this region.

  • Next to Buerresheim Castle (picture) you will reach the "Förstersteig" (15,5 km), which leads you through the idyllic "Nettetal" and the Eifel forest to the village Kürremberg and back to the river valley with a view of the castle complex.

Many other hiking trails (e.g. Ahrsteig, Rheinsteig, Rhein-Burgen-Weg) and sights are waiting to be discovered by you. You can find suggestions on our website "Sights" and "Links".
